Dr. Madeline Polonia

It’s difficult asking for help, and it’s even more difficult to find someone you can trust to support you when life is getting tough. We may not have the same experiences or struggles, but my goal is to create a collaborative environment to understand better exactly what you’re going through and partner with you to find effective solutions.

I’m passionate about helping teens and adults learn practical, easy-to-implement coping skills to help them better navigate life’s stressors.

We’ll talk during therapy, but we’ll also practice using tools to improve communication, manage overwhelming emotions, and heal from hurtful relationships.

This is a place where you can share your worries, frustrations, disappointment, anger, and sorrow without judgment.

I’m Dr. Madeline Polonia, a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience. I received my doctoral degree at Wright State University School of Professional Psychology. My specialties include working with teens and adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, stress, and grief/loss. My clinical experience is varied and includes working at hospitals, community mental health centers, college counseling centers, and a high school. Working in various diverse settings has helped me better connect with people of all ages. I have been in private practice since 2015.

I provide counseling in Spanish and English in San Diego and while I work with a variety of people, my specialties include:

  • Helping adults and teens better regulate anxiety and depression.

  • Teaching teens and adults cognitive behavioral coping strategies.

  • Helping parents and teens to improve their family relationships.

  • Supporting adults as they navigate loss and grief.

  • Empower teens and adults to manage stress and other difficult emotions better.
